MUL-E03020201

  • Manufacturer: SONY
  • Model: SCPH-79001
  • Series: Playstation 2 | NTSC | U/C
  • Serial: HU1730966
  • Power: DC8.5V | 4.5A

Mod Description:

This model having the smaller version of the motherboard allows for minimizing the footprint of the case, by removing the DVD reading module and hacking off USB2 from the motherboard. The aim is to:

  • Make the console smaller
  • Add HDMI output internally
  • Keep original power button and status led (optionally restore IR functionality)
  • Add SD card port internally
  • Install FreeMcBoot to be able to play games from the SD card and over the network
  • Add WIFI functionality internally
  • Replace conventional power with PD
  • Maybe improve cooling

Road so far...

Found console scan. Sources:

While I like the base idea, I didn't really appreciate(while very smart use of leftover I/O) the use of the DVD tray sensor as the reset button. I also think that the overhang is an essential design trait of the console. Therefore I downloaded the scan and edited it in Sketchup.

Then I followed the aforementioned video and it fit in! I didn't like how some areas have been printed and I made changes with the craft knife.
